Planning to use this programme with a teaching team?
Here are some important considerations.
Our experience with our school trials has taught us that you need a coordinator - someone who is going to be one step ahead of everyone else. This will probably be the one who had the initial interest in CSI through their own prior knowledge or experience, or the curriculum leader.
As teachers we can be very protective of the way we do things and resistant to the incessant change that takes place around us. You will no doubt have staff members who are reluctant to take this different approach on board and they will need to be convinced of its merits.
We have found that the first few weeks are the hardest. Once teachers get a feel for how the programme is delivered and see how the kids respond they come around BUT it does help to be prepared and convinced yourself to be able to lead the way.
Early start for the Coordinator
We suggest that your coordinator triggers the email tutorials before the rest of the teaching team so that they can get a feel for the programme and even have a go themselves before passing it on to the other staff.
If you have already been through the Explore CSI Online package you will be well prepared for this role.
The rest of the team
When you are ready for your teaching team to start the programme, each one of them will need to trigger the tutorials using the trigger word you have been given.
- They will need to do this using the email address that they wish their emails to be delivered to (school or home).
- They need to do this the day before the day they want the regular tutorials to arrive
For example, you have a team meeting on Wednesday. Everyone gets the tutorial on Monday so they can have a preview of the contents before the meeting. The trigger needs to be sent on a Sunday.
Once the pattern has been established it is important to let us know if emails do not arrive so we can sort this out for you.
